Do It Anyway

Recently, some very good friends of mine were going through an unfounded and uninvited questioning of their character, in a very public way. This came more from the sad and insecure personal issues of another, who - in my estimation - felt threatened and envious of the respect these people have earned - from many who know them. Week in and week out ... as I sat over coffee I would hear the pain this situation was causing their hearts. It broke mine to watch this.

Life isn't fair, is it? 'LIFE SHOULD BE FAIR'- I don't think I ever signed up for that subscription!!! Somewhere along the line, something made me think it should be! SHOULD BE? There's that word ... 'Should' ... I've learned not to trust it when I say it, it's highly problematic ... why? Because who am I in God's will to say what 'should' be? ... Hoping, praying and having faith that something 'might be' ... is another thing.

Be careful when you hear yourself say 'They should have ... it should have ... you should have ... I should have' dangerous words those. Long and short - none of us escapes the hit of unfairness. And my friends were right in the middle of a situation they didn't do anything to earn or warrant. It wasn't fair...

I was at work one night, thinking (and praying) for them ... that they'd be strong, that God would protect them and bring truth. I was feeling unable to help them in any practical way that would immediately change anything. Then I heard this song ... and I knew God had given me a way to encourage them. I sent them the song and the lyrics... ....

By the way, God did rescue them, and has brought truth again. I'm happy to say that in it all I never saw them quit - quit in their character, or in their desire to live to please God. The stood in and under the protective hand of God, and are an inspiration to me. In the face of false accusation --- they lived to please and to praise God ANYWAY.

Sometimes God's requirement of us is 'Do it ANYWAY' ... in the face of false accusations 'Do It ANYWAY', in the face of misunderstanding 'Do it ANYWAY', in heartbreak and heartache 'Do It ANYWAY' ... Not because you SHOULD, because for all he has done for you ... all he asks is to do all he has called you to ANYWAY ... your reward is from Him and he never is unfair! ....

DO IT ANYWAY
Martina McBride

You can spend your time building
something from nothing
one storm can come and blow it all away,
Build it anyway

You can chase a dream that seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray it doesn't always turn
out like I think it should
But I do it anyway,
I do it anyway

This world's gone crazy
and it's getting harder to beleive,
that tomorrow will be better than today,
Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all your heart
for all the right reasons,
and then in a moment they can choose
to walk away,
Love them anyway

God is great
But sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway
Yea I do it anyway

You can pour out singing - a song you beleive in
that tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway,
Yea sing it anyway

I sing ....
I dream ...
I love ....
Anyway
.............................................................................................................................

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered,
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people may accuse you of selfish motives,
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you may win false friends and true enemies,
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow,
Do good anyway.

Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable,
Be honest and transparent anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight,
Build anyway.

People who really want help may attack you if you help them,
Help them anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you may get hurt,
Give the world your best anyway.

The world is full of conflict,
Choose peace of mind anyway.

- Mother Theresa
